Mikki vs Religions

Hmm. I know that a lot of people will get mad at me for this one, but here are my thoughts.

Religion has been around since forever, and I can almost say literally.

Today, this girl and I had a conversation about it, and we had two completely different beliefs.

It just reminded me how crucial it can be.

Hmmm. Ok...
Back in the Philippines, religion was introduced to me when I was six years old, when my father returned from Saudi Arabia. Even though I went to a Christian school, that's when I actually started going to church. The first time my family and I went, I fell asleep for the most part of the sermon. Lol. Hey, I was just a kid.

Now in the U.S., my family and I go to church every Sunday. Well, we try. The church is cool. I like it. I like singing along with the band and such. I like the interesting sermons the pastor offers. Also, I like the food that they serve after. =] At the same time, I wouldn't call myself religious, but I'm not saying that I'm not religious either. I'm not an Atheist. I believe in, fear, and love God. I just don't know what category I belong.

I'm a Christian, a Baptist to be exact. To be honest, I don't know what differs my religion from other denominations in Christianity, or any other religion.

It's a touchy subject to talk about. I know. Wars had been fought because of religions.

Haven't you ever thought about the hypocrisies and controversies about them? Why people fight over them?

First of all, it's kind of dumb to have 123456 different denominations of Christianity. I came across a girl before and she said that she goes to a none-denominational church. HUH?! Doesn't that mean that it is a denominational church? Haha. If you go to a none-denominational church, that makes it have a denomination, which is none-denominational. Right? Lol.

Ok. I don't know much about Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, etc., so they wouldn't be mention. It will be mostly on the Christianity side.

Ok. My friend and I were discussing my beliefs and hers. Actually, I've discussed my views to a lot of people, and only one had agreed with me so far.

I believe that religions are made because people need to believe in something. Having faith in something gives people hope; it allows them to be stable. Also, nobody knows how we came upon this Earth, nobody knows how life was created, and nobody knows how everything began. People had to come up with conclusions to satisfy their questions. I believe that this is where everything began.

I like logic. I can't believe in something that doesn't make sense. Hmm. Ok. How many time have you heard that God created everything? (Genesis 1:1 - God created the heaven and the Earth.) Whenever I hear this, I always wonder how. Where's the explanation? It's not in the Bible.

Hmmmm. BIBLE - The word of God. Isn't the Bible man-made? I mean like it was written by people who was with Jesus, or whatever, but that was waaaaayyyy back. Why do people believe in something that was passed down from BC, AD, and today? I don't understand that. The Bible was revised too many times. Nobody knows which is true or not. Nobody would ever know if people added something. The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown, was an eye-opener to phenomena. Even if the story is fictional, it makes sense. One point that stands out to me is the fact that the Bible only emphasizes on Jesus Christ's God-like characteristics, but not the human side of him. He was human, so how was he when he was human? The Bible paints a picture how he is God. It mentions how he heals people, and makes all these miracles. I'm not saying that I don't believe in the Bible, I do, just not the entirety.

I asked my friend if all sins are equal. They are, supposedly. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins to be forgiven, supposedly. Which means if I lie and somebody commits a murder, we sinned evenly, supposedly. Weird.

Also, churches with their religion shits can also be corrupt. In today's society, churches don't get taxed, and supposedly you have to give a tenth of your salary every month (tithe). That's figures we're talking about.. Hmmm.

I can argue about religions for hours.
Too many questions, not enough answers.

Whenever I talk to people about this, they always tell me:
Just have faith
...
in what, or who?..

Haha, I sound bewildered.
Maybe, a little. =/

(By the way, the pic was from last Sunday.
Yupp, church clothes. Lol.)

This is only MY opinion,
don't use it as a reference. Lol.

  1. Yea religion is a touchy subject, especially when you talk to someone that is REALLY religious and you try to explain to them what your thoughts are on it. Im not really religious Im more spiritual than anything else. I believe in god and jebus but having to go to church and all that jive isnt really my cup of tea. Ive gone to church before. Its interesting and depending on the priest/pastor w.e. Cuz some of the stuff that they talk about can at times make you think and gives you a feeling of understanding.

My family is spiritual in the sense of guardian angels, spirits. I have an indian statue in my room. He is my guardian angel and protects me. Then you have people who believe into Santeria, I dont believe in it but i respect it. I know people/families that are Santeros and its a REALLY big thing to them.

At the end of the day its w.e. you believe in.

  3. I am accrually non-denom.. To me that means that it's more of a one on one wit god.. The only rules I follow as far as religion goes is the ones god gave to us directly which are the 10 commandments.. But to tell ya the truth I have often wondered and thought the same things..

  8. Not necessarily, I don't think Mr. Runske believes in a god. He believes in a 'higher power'.

Even though, he makes a great point.
    He made sense to me.

Yea, and you're right about the last part.

    And, thanks. =P
